In 2001, a band of robot enthusiasts decided to bring the FIRST Robotics program to an inner city, under-served high school – Franklin HS Seattle, WA. These individuals wanted to make a difference to students who do not have the experience and/or opportunity with STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math) opportunities. "xbot robotics" was founded to bring STEM to the students of south Seattle, the most diverse zip codes in the United States. Programs now offered at the elementary, middle school and high school level.
